Plaque n. 8
Il portale istituzionale del Comune di Nettuno (RM)

The eighth historical plaque is located outside the commercial centre in Via Romana, at number 47. Here was established the AMG Headquarters: Allied Military Government – Investigation Office and Military Court. Before the construction of the new building, there were two restaurants: “Il Padiglione” and “La Villetta”. They also had undergrounds cellars. They were demolished in the ‘70s. Major Ridway B. Knight of 6th Corps and Captain A. Mack, 6th Corps Police Commander (who worked as Scotland Yard Police Inspector) were in charge of these offices. It was here that suspected collaborators, both German or Italians of Mussolini fascist regime, were questioned. The picture shows, from left to right: Mario Ottolini aid of Prince Steno Borghese (appointed as mayor by the allies), Captain A. Mack, Prince Steno Borghese, Major Knight and Rodrigo Taurelli, the country guard with the “Police” band on his arm, also adjutant of Prince Steno Borghese.
